Devlog 06

Bone hunters Devlog 6

Welcome to our 6th devlog, our programmers and artists had another round of content to add to the game. let us talk you through the recent progress on our game:

Art:

On the art side of the project, we focused on everything player feedback related and animations. As no one in our art team has a lot of experience with rigging and animating, it felt good to start on that in this time of the process, and the results are pretty nice!

It adds a lot to the mood of our game to see the dogs running around. The idle animation, walk and run cycle has been finished this work week.

Now that the dogs can roam free and have the time of their lives it’s time to add some sparkle to the game!

The artists put their time into adding some player feedback to the game, RFX in particular.

While it might still need a bit of tweaking for coherency, it is definitely starting to look really cool. Our artist worked on the slowed, the stunned, fireworks and the bark FX.

And finally for the UI, we are still exploring and making research concept wise to see which kind of main menu UI would fit our game the best.

Programming:

This week the programmers have been hard at work at implementing the last of the gameplay mechanics: we added the jumpable object for the player, we implemented the ability for the dog to lay a poop while he is holding a bone, anyone who walks through it will get slowed. Players who get stunned can also use the triggers now to decrease their stun cooldown.

Other than the gameplay mechanics, we’ve also been working on ui and camera behavior: we optimized more of the camera behavior and now there will be small indicators in the corner of the screen, pointing to each dog’s respective dog house.
