Bone hunters Devlog 10


Welcome to our final Devlog! This great journey of Game Projects has come to an end, and the final build of the game is now available for you guys to enjoy!

This short final week, we tweaked the last assets and got rid of more bugs.


Art:

A big part of the time we spent in polishing was fixing issues we encountered with shadows and lighting, but we’re satisfied with the final result.

We spent some time tweaking the final colors and textures so the scene felt more coherent and adding some final touches to the UI so they all had the same style.

A pedestal was added to the player selection screen, creating more of a coherence with the rest of the level screens. Gifs were created for the loading screen and with some final feedback from the supervisors, our game was finished.

Programming:

Our programmers did a lot of small adjustments during the last of the polish phase. Adding some last sound effects in the start and end screen. Sounds like whistles, UI sounds, score points, the winner now also gets a crown in the end screen!

Afterwards we fixed the hit boxes for the jump bushes, it now feels more intuitive to jump over and always activates when you’re in the close vicinity.

In the UI, the buttons now pulse when you press them, giving improved player feedback to the users. During the tug of war there are now also triggers visible that pulse when you have to alternate them to help the player learn the game.

The timer now changes color for the last 10 seconds and the numbers pulse and there is a sound to notify all players the end is near. 

At the end of the game, all players will stop moving and the dogs sit down to transition to the end screen.

There are more buttons in character selection: it shows the triggers for players to join, as well as the “A” button to lock in your character. And there is a border to indicate when you have locked, dogs will also spin to face the camera.

Dogs can now push other dogs when they are stunned to be able to reach the dog with the bone to initiate a tug of war.
